HP have announced that they could be releasing a new industrial strength machine the size of a refrigerator that could hold a data centers worth of equipment.

The HP lab have nicknamed this “THE MACHINE” and it will have a new operating system, a different type of memory and super fast data transfer.

They have been researching projects including a new form of memory known as memristors and silicon photonics, the transfer of data inside a computer using light instead of copper wires and  are hoping to use all this research to assemble the technology to form the machine.

Martin Fink ( the chief technology officer and head of HP labs ) has said “We think we have no choice” and is hoping to release this into the market within the next couple of years.
